About me

Hello,

My name is Emil Sjölander.

I grew up in a small town in the middle part of Sweden called Östersund, where I developed an interest in both photography and film at an early age. My interest soon turned into a hobby and has continued to grow over the years.

In high school I studied media with focus on video production and photography. After that I chose to study Digital Visualization for two years at Jönköping University where I learned more about filming and motion graphics. During my studies I worked as an intern for a small filmcompany, Edinim Produktion, in Stockholm that produced TV commercials and information films. I had a great time studying and working but after graduating I still wanted more. I decided to leave the rainy summers and chilly winters of Sweden for Santa Barbara, California to attend Santa Barbara City College. It was a one year program with a large variety of both film and photography classes. I loved the time in the States and I graduated with high hopes for the future.

In may 2013 I worked as a Intern/Runner for a Swedish feature film called 'Turist' by director Ruben Östlund, It was a great opportunity for me to learn how things work on a real filmset and I got good response from the filmcrew and actors.

If you would like any further information simply use the contact form found on the contact page. I look forward to talking with you

My career goals are to gain experience and improve my skills from working with the main people in the media industry, both film and television, - Internationally and in Sweden. This, to create a strong network of contacts in the future and of course to be able to work with the things I love to do.
